To determine the pressure in a closed system independent of the atmospheric pressure. They are suitable for measuring the negative pressure relative to the external pressure. Meteorologists and weather reporters worldwide often use this unit for convenience, since working in pascals would result in much larger values.ġ5 psi = 15 × 0.0689475729 bar = 1.In particular, it is possible to measure. Millibars (symbol: mb) are also commonly used when referencing atmospheric air pressure, where atmospheric pressure equals 1013.25 mbar (101.325 kPa). The International Bureau of Weights and Measures has specified the bar as a unit that authors should have the freedom to use but has chosen not to include the bar in the list of non-SI units accepted for use with SI. The term "bar" comes from the Greek word "baros," which means weight.Ĭurrent use: Although the bar is a metric unit of pressure, it is not accepted within the International System of Units (SI) and is even deprecated within certain fields. History/origin: The unit, bar, was introduced by Vilhelm Bjerknes, a Norwegian meteorologist who founded modern weather forecasting. It is equal to 0.987 atmospheres (101,325 Pa), the unit often used as a reference of standard pressure. Barĭefinition: A bar (symbol: bar) is a metric unit of pressure that is defined as exactly 100,000 pascals (symbol: Pa). Although the pascal is more widely used in scientific contexts, psi is more often used in everyday contexts, particularly in countries like the United States as well as others under the US customary or imperial systems of units. As such, the prototype pound at the time was known as the avoirdupois wool pound.Ĭurrent use: The psi is fairly widely used to measure numerous pressures, such as tire pressure, scuba tank pressure, natural gas pipeline pressure, among others. The system is believed to have come into use in England around 1300 and was used in the international wool trade. It is based on the avoirdupois system, a system that uses weights in terms of the avoirdupois pound, which was standardized in 1959. History/origin: Pound-force per square inch is a unit that originated in the imperial and US customary systems of units. One psi is approximately 6,895 pascals (N/m 2). It is defined as the pressure that results when a force of one pound-force is applied to a one-square-inch area. Definition: A pound-force per square inch (symbol: psi) is an imperial and US customary unit of pressure based on avoirdupois units.

Second, I made a Reddit post to announce this. 123456789 corresponds to XCDRSTWFP on my board, so whatever config files I have won't work for you. I'm using letters, not numbers, to dial in my codes. I also use the Colemak-DH keyboard layout instead of standard qwerty, which you can read about here. You will *sometimes* dial 69 for slot, but you're more regularly going to dial 65 for "circle with a center point" and 68 for "circle defined by a rim".įirst, I set up dial-a-sketch to be used on my Corne, a keyboard you can learn about in the r/crkbd subreddit. For example, in the sketcher, 6 is circle and 9 is polygon. Contradicting concepts are placed in the same column to minimize repeated use of the same finger. I've also employed a simple technique used in ergonomic keyboard layouts: actions are designed to "flow" horizontally, using multiple fingers. In terms of columns, the rightmost column is all about shapes, the central column deals with points and lines, and the leftmost column is all about modifications to existing things (The left column came together by accident, so it's not as structured as the others.) 8 is about creating lines or extruding shapes, 5 is about cutting things or creating single points, and 2 is devoted entirely to invisible items: datums, construction lines, and reference dimensions. You'll note that the upper row involves "more", while the lower rows involve "less". Fortunately, there are a few neat organizational tricks I've employed to tidy things up. Hopefully that gave you a basic mental image of the dialer layout, but I've found it very difficult to convey what the keys represent and how they relate to each other. (sketch) use existing polyline, rim polygon If you wanted to make a regular pad, you would dial M89, dropping the 4 because pads are not complicated. If you wanted to create a lofted cut, you would dial M459, because 5=cut. M=part design (remapped to my mouse), 4=complex, 8=additive, and 9=pad. For example, if you wanted to create a loft, you would dial M489. Unlike traditional keyboard shortcuts, where each key is associated with the name of an action, dial-a-sketch ties each key to a basic concept, then you chain concepts together to create the action you want to accomplish. Ok, but what actually IS dial-a-sketch? It's a system of keyboard shortcuts I came up with so that I never have to take my hand off the number pad. If you know of any pre-existing designs that do what I'm doing, or if you see anything I should change, TELL ME NOW before I build any muscle memory. Any advice?)ĭisclaimer: Dial-a-sketch is currently a proof of concept. As a side note, I don't know how to make images smaller here in the FreeCAD Forum. I expect it to entice you to read further. RuPaul tells the queens that “ Down Under’s next drag superstar should be able to complete a full sentence,” implying that we should just pack this season up right here and now, but alas, the competition continues. Australian and New Zealand drag is known for being extremely camp and weird, meaning that these queens are predisposed to a challenge like this, where a grown man has to memorize a script that sounds like an 11-year-old might have written it after taking PCP for the first time. This week, the queens are subjected to an acting challenge - not necessarily my favorite Drag Race convention, because I’m not sure you can ever really describe what the queens turn out as “acting” - and, unlike during last week’s design challenge, it feels like all our contestants are on more equal footing here. Molly sees your “It do take nerve” and raises you one “It do take confrontation avoidance!” When it comes time for Molly to nominate who she sees as most likely to leave the competition this week, she fails to drum up the courage to nominate Minnie and instead gives the sash to Beverly. Some of these are freebies: The “You Beauty” award obviously goes to Kween Kong, who looks like an action figure out of drag, and “Daggiest Drag” goes to Spankie, who, as much as I love - she naturally assumed “GC” stood for “good cunt,” not “greatest competition,” a woman after my own heart - was spotted on the runway last week wearing the kind of plastic-and-spray-paint construction that a villain might have worn on Doctor Who in the ’70s. Reader, I would love to tell you that I took no pleasure in seeing a fresh-faced queen like Aubrey booted from the competition so early, but that would be a lie, considering that I took great pleasure in seeing it.įor this week’s mini-challenge, last week’s challenge winner, Molly Poppinz, has to dole out superlatives to the other queens. And, if you didn’t believe her, the next 50-odd minutes of television will change your mind. Early on in this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, our season’s unofficial narrator, Hanna Conda, offers up a pearl of wisdom: “Nothing says you’re at RuPaul’s Drag Race like watching someone go home.” is shooting a little over 39 percent, over five percent higher than his career average. It is no coincidence, in my opinion, that Hardaway Jr.'s percentages were up in Atlanta, being that Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder were the best distributors he had played with in his career. However, if you look back at Hardaway Jr.'s two year stint with the Atlanta Hawks, he shot a little over 44 percent from the field. is a decent three-point shooter, shooting 35 percent from deep this season and for his career, his overall field-goal percentage is lacking, as it is only 39 percent. In trash disposal or recycling areas, closed containers and the use of PDB (paradichlorobenzene) blocks may help repel some insects. Yellowjacket traps (commercial or otherwise) have not shown to be of any value in reducing a yellowjacket problem in the southeastern United States. If the nest is in a wall, it may be desirable to remove it after spraying to avoid attracting carpet beetles that can subsequently invade the nest and eventually attack garments made wool, silk, or fur. If the nest is in a wall void or other inaccessible area in your home, you may consider hiring a pest control operator to do the work for you. This is extremely dangerous, as it is a flammable hazard and does immense damage to the surrounding environment. Finally, do not pour gasoline down the hole of a nest. Do not use a flashlight while spraying, as this will attract the angry wasps near you and will sting anyone nearby. You may need to be repeat the treatment on the following evening. Direct the spray into the nest opening and then move away from the area in case any of the wasps emerge from the nest. You can use any of the aerosol “Wasp & Hornet” sprays that propel insecticide in a stream about 10-12 feet. This can be done at anytime of the day, but near dusk, most of the wasps are more likely to be inside the nest. Control is best achieved by applying a pesticide directly into the nest opening. If a nest is located where people may be stung or if you (or others) are hypersensitive to wasp stings, then colony destruction may be appropriate. The nest will slowly deteriorate from weather or from attack by hungry birds. If a yellowjacket nest is built in a secluded area, you may choose to simply wait until the colony dies out in late fall or early winter. It is important to also note that these colonies die out each year. They also serve as food for bears, skunks, birds, and other insects. In spite of their reputation, yellowjackets are actually beneficial because they prey on many insects that we consider to be pests. The first decision to make is whether control is actually necessary. If the nest is not in the immediate vicinity, the likelihood of stings is greatly reduced. Defensive behavior of yellowjackets occurs in response to nest defense. Trash cans should be kept covered or have a flap over the opening. It is also important not to spill sugar water when filling the hummingbird feeder. Hummingbird feeders can be fitted with mechanical guards or a coating of petroleum based chest rub on where the insects land. As an alternative, keep all outdoor food and drinks covered, except while actually eating. The only way to control this situation is to locate and destroy the nest, which is rarely possible. Yellowjackets, in particular, may be late-season pests around picnics, trash cans, and humming bird feeders as they forage. The current year’s nests are not reused the following spring. Nests are abandoned by wintertime and the future queens seek shelter alone, in protected places under tree bark, in old stumps, or sometimes attics. The males cannot sting, due to lack of a stinger. The mated female reproductives will serve as the next generation of queens the following spring. In the late summer, the colony produces reproductives. Frequently, it is not until this time that the nest is noticed, although it has been there for many weeks. The insects continue to enlarge the nest until fall when there may be 600-800 yellowjacket workers. Like other predatory wasps, their diet consists mainly of other insects such as flies and bees. The workers expand the nest, forage for food, and feed the young. She takes on this task by herself, but once she has produced enough workers to take over nest-building and foraging duties, she focuses on egg laying. BiologyĪn individual yellowjacket queen begins building a nest alone in the spring. Small holes leading to large covered cavities are ideal for yellowjacket nest sites. Cinder block openings are another common place they have been known to inhabit. Occasionally, yellowjackets will nest in attics or wall voids of houses or storage buildings. In wooded areas, they are common in rotted logs or stumps. Common locations for nests are in lawns, particularly in sandy exposed areas, as well as at the bases of trees or shrubs. They are very agile flyers, and they construct small tan nests made of paper, usually within a cavity or void. Yellowjackets are small wasps with distinct yellow and black markings. High visibility and low-speed modes help with the difficulty, and there are promises of “a few secrets. You can also use a variety of input that includes your mouse, keyboard, touch or even a gamepad with haptic feedback. For a limited time, it will have you ski away from a yeti while avoiding wintery obstacles. There are also objective-based time trial and zig zag (really, slalom) modes, though.
